Octane Eye Surgery Online Consumer Snapshot: June 19, 2020

United States Google search volumes for eye surgery related queries (Cataract, Glaucoma, LASIK) continue to climb and have now surpassed the pre-COVID 12-month norms (Chart 1). Alabama, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Texas are the top U.S. states in terms of eye surgery related search volume on a per-capita basis. It is no coincidence that these states were either early-opening states or states that had limited closures.

In addition, it’s a week full of good news for LASIK providers as awareness (top of the funnel) and decision (bottom of the funnel – buying decisions) queries are about equal with both at, or above, pre-COVID levels. This is an unprecedented time of opportunity as LASIK patients are extremely active online and demonstrating strong buying behaviors (Chart 2).
