    Octane Announces OTS Keynote Speaker: Richard A. Gonzalez

    Octane is pleased to announce that this year’s 2020 Ophthalmology Technology Summit Keynote speaker will be Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AbbVie, Richard A. Gonzalez. 

    Richard A. Gonzalez is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company that employs approximately 47,000 people worldwide and markets medicines in more than 175 countries.

    In May of 2020, AbbVie acquired Allergan, bringing together over 30 brands in leadership positions to expand and diversify their product portfolio in key therapeutic areas including CNS, GI, Eye Care and Aesthetics. As part of AbbVie, Allergan’s remains focused on eye care with a mission in eye care remains to protect and preserve vision for a better quality of life for the millions of people who experience vision loss every year

    Prior to AbbVie’s separation from Abbott in January 2013, Mr. Gonzalez was a 30-year Abbott veteran. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Abbott before briefly retiring in 2007. He also held various senior leadership positions in Abbott’s medical products businesses, including President and Chief Operating Officer of the Medical Products Group; Senior Vice President and President of the former Hospital Products Division; Vice President and President of the Health Systems Division; and Divisional Vice President and General Manager for Diagnostics Operations in the United States and Canada.

    In addition to Mr. Gonzalez, we will be featuring key opinion leaders and top ophthalmologists who are determining the future of the ophthalmology field.

    This year’s Ophthalmology Technology Summit has been pushed back to August 7th and will be held at the Balboa Bay Resort. Octane's top priority remains the safety of our members, sponsors, partners, speakers and employees and we feel that the Balboa Bay Resort has gone above and beyond in the way they plan to keep guests and employees safe.  The health safety protocols are the product of working with CDC guidelines as well as state and local officials.
