    Octane Announces 2021 High Tech Awards Winners

    Aliso Viejo, Calif., September 24, 2021. Octane, Southern California’s leading accelerator, announced the winners of the 2021 High Tech Awards at a reception and dinner held at the Balboa Bay Resort. The awards program, in its twenty-eighth year, returned to an in-person event this year and recognized Orange County-based companies and leaders that have exhibited innovation and leadership in both the technology and medical technology fields.

    The celebratory evening recognized 45 innovative companies and leaders and introduced a new category, Ones to Watch.

    “This year was an overwhelming year for innovation in Orange County”, said Rita Battocchio, Head of Events at Octane OC, “We received a record-breaking number of nominations and these winners represent the amazing innovation that we are seeing in Orange County. It was exciting to see the resilience after such challenging times.”

    Despite the continued challenges faced, Orange County proved that it’s an unrelenting hub of innovation!

    Bill Carpou, Octane CEO, also selected two individuals to be recognized for their leadership and contribution to the Orange County community through the Vision and Leadership Award.

    This award recognizes visionary leaders in Orange County who demonstrate a commitment to the leadership of the local tech and medtech ecosystem. These leaders’ vision and leadership have made, and will continue to make, a positive impact on the ecosystem. This year, we recognized Bobak Azamian, MD, PhD, CEO of Tarsus Pharmaceuticals and Carrie Strom, President, Global Allergan Aesthetics, SVP, AbbVie.

    “Congratulations to both Bobby and Carrie for their exemplary leadership in Orange County. Bobby has started several companies and continues to keep them growing in Orange County. Carrie is one of our next-generation leaders and has a focus on how to grow diversity and leadership in Orange County,” said Bill.
